The multicultural Heiman Dullaertsquare is an area, which roughly forms the center of Coolhaven Island. It took on its present form between 1930 and 1940, after which the existing ambivalent design arose in 1980, when the connection between Willem Buytewechstraat and Pieter de Hoochstraat was abandoned at the same time as well as the connection between the Willem Buytewegstraat and Kapelweg. The square was arranged in such a way that these historical lines no longer existed, which resulted in a difficult-to-read urban structure when navigating. There is a total of four blockades, in which the football cage is the culprit at the Heiman Dullaertplein. The square is used to a limited extent and is seen as a dumping ground for broken bicycles and other waste.

The climate-friendly redesign runs with the ground level rising from north to south, with the natural patches crashing in from the building lines, so that the figurative building block is framed. The line of sight is integrated with two lanes for cyclists and pedestrians. A legible structure arises as a consequence and a pleasant place for encounters between young and old and all the cultures that the neighboorhoud houses. Finally, the square is zoned from the south by means of a sunbathing lawn to a multifunctional space, a central playground and a semi-private front zone for residents. In this, the square was designed in an open manner to offer space for all kinds of activities to be invented by the residents, but has a clear natural zoning plan to promote social cohesion and tolerance.
